The 2018 floods exposed a critical gap in mental health support in Puthenvelikkara. To address this, CRC partnered with the Mental Health Action Trust (MHAT), a charitable organization providing professional, recovery-oriented care to marginalized communities.
Today, CRC hosts a free mental health clinic at Puthenvelikkara run by MHAT professionals, operating twice a week. Identified through the critical network of ASHA workers and community health officials, it has registered 97 cases and actively supports over 57 clients as of May 2025.
Recognizing the intersection of mental illness, poverty, and stigma, CRC is currently focused on developing employment programs to support long-term recovery and reintegration.
